MARRIAGE CONFERENCE

“Real Communication”

Proverbs 18:20-21 NKJV. “A man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. (21) “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

James 3:5-6 NKJV. “Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.”

THERE ARE 2 KINDS OF COMMUNICATION

Corrupt Communication and Edifying Communication

Ephesian 4:29 NKJV. “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

CORRUPT COMMUNICATION

Four Things That Will Harden A Relationship

1. Lying corrupts communication.

Ephesians 4:25 NKJV. “Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.”

2. Anger corrupts communication.

Ephesians NKJV “Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil.”

3. Bitterness corrupts communication.

Ephesians 4:31 NKJV. “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.”

4. Arguing corrupts communication.

Ephesians 4:31 NKJV. “Put all clamoring away from you.”

"EDIFYING COMMUNICATION"

Four Areas of Edifying Communication

1. Speak with grace.

Colossians 4:6 NKJV“ Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”

2. Be kind to one another.

Ephesians 4:32 NKJV. “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,

even as God in Christ forgave you.”

3. Be tenderhearted to each other.

Ephesians 4:32 NKJV “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”

4. Forgiving one another.

Ephesians 4:32 NKJV “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
